I first found this book in a shop in the Tower of London sometime after the turn of the century. I see that now there is a newer edition. The copy I have has over 4000 definitions and 200 cartoons of naval terms, antiquated and modern. This is a great reference book and an interesting read for the veteran sailor, landlubber, or anyone who wants to understand what's really being said in those old British Navy films.
The full title of the book by Rick Jolly, a retired British Navy Surgeon, is Jackspeak: An Illustrated guide to the slang and usage of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines including The Submarine Service and the Fleet Arm.
That ought to cover it!
